Overview

A machine-learning experimentation project focused on evaluating different classification algorithms for an obesity-related prediction task. Rather than relying on a single model, the project explored how multiple approaches performed on the same problem.

The challenge

Choosing an appropriate classification algorithm requires more than selecting a familiar model. Different approaches can produce different results depending on the dataset, preprocessing, and characteristics of the prediction task.

Approach

I implemented and tested a broad range of machine-learning classification algorithms, using the project to compare their outputs and explore their relative performance. The emphasis was on hands-on model experimentation rather than limiting the solution to a single classifier.

Key features

  • Experimentation with multiple machine-learning classifiers
  • Model output and performance comparison
  • Evaluation of alternative classification approaches
  • Python-based machine-learning workflow
  • Exploration of model selection and evaluation

Takeaway

The project strengthened my understanding of model selection and comparative evaluation. It reinforced the importance of testing different approaches against the same problem instead of assuming that one algorithm will always be the best fit.
